Syngonium (Arrowhead) Plant Care Cheat Sheet

Syngoniums are beautiful indoor houseplants that come in many different colors and patterns. The leaf shape is like an arrowhead, hence its nickname.

Lighting: This plant can tolerate 2-3 hours of direct sunlight touching the foliage. What this means, is this is a lower light tolerant plant, but will thrive in a bright indirect lighting. To maintain the plant's size, a minimum of 100 FC is required. For good growth, 200 FC is the sweet spot.

Watering: This plant likes to dry out at least 1/2 of the way between watering. It can tolerate drying most of the way out, but the leaves will dramatically droop when it is thirsty. Try to avoid getting to the completely droopy stage.

This quick cheat sheet is meant to give you tips and tricks for how to best care for your plant. All of the information above is based on my personal experience and advice with houseplants and the lighting requirements are a reference from Daryl Chang of House Plant Journal.

*FC is lighting measured in Foot Candles and requires a light meter to get an accurate reading.
