Philodendron Vines Plant Care Cheat Sheet

Vining Philodendrons are a great household plant with a variety of foliage colors and patterns. They can have bright neon leaves all the way to moody velvet growth. No matter the look, if it's a philodendron, and it's vining, the growth is all the same.

Lighting: This plant can handle 2-3 hours of direct sunlight touching the foliage. Philodendrons that vine can handle lower light as well as prefer bright indirect light. To maintain the plant's size, a minimum of 100 FC is required, but for good growth, you want around 200 FC.

Watering: This plant likes to dry out at least 2/3 of the way between waterings. It prefers to dry most of the way out, and the leaves will begin to droop when they are ready to be watered.

This quick cheat sheet is meant to give you tips and tricks for how to best care for your plant. All of the information above is based on my personal experience and advice with houseplants and the lighting requirements are a reference from Daryl Chang of House Plant Journal.

*FC is lighting measured in Foot Candles and requires a light meter to get an accurate reading.
