Croton are houseplants that come in many different colors, patterns, and leaf sizes.
Lighting: This plant can tolerate 4-5 hours of direct sunlight touching the foliage. Croton love bright indirect light and will lose their bright colors without it. To maintain the plant's size, a minimum of 400 FC is required, but for good growth, you want around 800 FC.
Watering: This plant likes to stay more on the moist side. Let at least the top 1/3 -1/2 of the soil to dry out before watering again. It will begin to droop when it is thirsty. Try to avoid getting to the completely droopy stage.
This quick cheat sheet is meant to give you tips and tricks for how to best care for your plant. All of the information above is based on my personal experience and advice with houseplants and the lighting requirements are a reference from Daryl Chang of House Plant Journal.
*FC is lighting measured in Foot Candles and requires a light meter to get an accurate reading.
